3rd time doing gel X nails

Just documenting my at home manicure journey on here! The first two times I cured the nails on was absolutely horrendous 🤣 and so those pictures don’t exist but this time I finally got the hang of curing on the nails with no bubbles!!! Now to work on properly cutting my cuticles (bc that’s scary asf) and getting my shaping down when filing. I tend to over file which leads to taking away too much and ending up with a shape I did not want. Like in this case these nails are more round than almond which is what I intended. I’m getting a bit more comfortable with my E-file even though I definitely should’ve coughed up an extra $20 for the version that has the motor separate from the hand piece and shows the proper speed. This may not look great but tbh it’s not bad especially given some of my past at home manicures lol I’ve also have gotten more comfortable with my non dominant hand. Anyways all this to hopefully look back and see how far I’ve come. (:

Achieving a flawless cure without bubbles is crucial, and it often takes a few tries to get used to the timing and technique involved in curing your nails properly. Besides curing, managing cuticles safely is an important step that many beginners find intimidating. Using a gentle cuticle remover and pushing back cuticles carefully can prevent injury and improve the look of your manicure. Shaping the nails is another skill that develops with practice. Over-filing can happen easily if you're not cautious, which may alter your preferred nail shape. To avoid this, use gentle strokes with a fine-grit file and frequently check your progress visually. Almond shapes require a delicate tapering on the sides, so patience is key. Additionally, using an E-file can speed up the filing process but can feel tricky to control at first. Investing in a quality E-file with adjustable speed and a separate motor from the handpiece enhances precision and comfort. Another tip is to practice doing your dominant hand first and gradually gain confidence with your non-dominant hand, improving your overall technique. Keep documenting your progress—it helps track improvements and build confidence for future manicures. Remember, DIY Gel X nail enhancements require time, patience, and practice. Each attempt teaches you new things, from avoiding bubbles during curing to the right shaping techniques. With persistence and the right tools, your at-home manicures can look professional and beautiful.
