For example, the cleaning methods and products used can be very different from those in Brazil, sometimes involving chemicals or equipment that feel unfamiliar and require extra caution. One thing that stood out to me was how strict and detailed some clients are about cleaning standards. In some cases, there are very specific expectations about how and where to clean, which can feel overwhelming at first but also teaches you new skills. Another surprising aspect is the variety of places where you might be assigned to clean, from regular houses to very large offices or unusual spaces, each with its own quirks. Also, many immigrant Brazilians working in this sector share stories of cultural shock, from language barriers to adapting to new social norms at work. These experiences shape a unique perspective on life in the US and deepen the sense of community among Brazilian immigrants. It's important to remember that cleaning work, while sometimes unseen and underappreciated, is very demanding and vital. It comprises not only physical labor but also cultural adaptation and resilience. Sharing these personal stories can help demystify the job and empower those considering this line of work in the US. Embracing the strange and sometimes bizarre side of cleaning here opened my eyes and made me appreciate the diversity of everyday work experiences in America.
