12 anos morando nos EUA me ensinaram:
quanto menos gente souber dos seus planos, mais paz você vai ter. 🇺🇸

Reflecting on my personal experience during many years living in the USA, I have come to appreciate how keeping plans and aspirations private can actually reduce stress and conflicts. When you share your goals with too many people, it often invites unsolicited opinions, pressure, or even jealousy, which can cloud your motivation and create unnecessary distractions. Before moving to the United States, I remember hearing advice along the lines of "Antes de vir pros Estados Unidos, escuta isso" (Before coming to the United States, listen to this). This phrase encapsulated the importance of preparing mentally for the challenges ahead, including understanding when to keep your cards close to your chest. For Brazilian immigrants, or anyone adjusting to life in a new country, the blend of cultural expectations and the pressure to succeed can be overwhelming. Quietly working towards your objectives allows you to focus more on actual progress rather than external validation. This mindset has personally helped me maintain peace of mind amid the ups and downs of immigrant life. Furthermore, privacy about plans fosters a sense of autonomy and confidence. You rely less on others’ approval and more on your own determination. In my journey, this approach was invaluable in managing relationships, work challenges, and adapting to a new culture. In essence, the less people know about your plans, the more space you have for them to unfold naturally, protected from judgment and distractions. This philosophy has been a guiding principle for my peaceful and successful adaptation to life in the United States.
