10 years later... 🗓️⏳👣
Bailey was a few years older than Kolton in that first picture.
Back then I thought I was raising him.
Looking back now, I realize he was helping raise me too.
He taught me strength. He taught me boundaries. He taught me that settling isn't love.
And because of that, Kolton gets a version of me that took 10 more years to find.
That's a gift I'll never stop being grateful for.
❤️
P/S To this day Bailey still refuses to be in pictures on social media. 😂
Looking 👀 back, I should've known. He's literally hiding behind a fan in that first photo.

Looking back on a decade of motherhood, it’s clear that parenting is as much about personal growth as it is about raising a child. Over the years, I have learned that children have a way of teaching us about ourselves—sometimes in ways we don’t expect. For me, Kolton’s presence has been a powerful force in discovering strength and setting healthy boundaries in my life. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that love means more than just accepting circumstances; it means knowing your worth and not settling. This realization took me time—actually, a full ten years—to fully embrace. The journey wasn’t always easy, but the growth that came from it has been a priceless gift not only for me but for Kolton as well. He’s gotten to experience a more authentic and empowered version of me that I had to fight hard to find. It’s also interesting to see how my older child, Bailey, played a subtle but important role in shaping this path. His quiet presence, even hiding behind a fan in an early photo, was symbolic of how some lessons come softly but leave a lasting impact. Despite his reluctance to be in photos, his influence on my healing journey is undeniable. For anyone navigating the evolving complexities of parenthood, I encourage you to embrace the dual role of being both a guide and a learner. Your children can teach you resilience, love, and boundaries in ways that enrich your life profoundly. The past ten years have been a testament to this beautiful dynamic, and I’m grateful every day for the chance to grow alongside my boys.
