Snoqualmie falls

... Read moreMy unforgettable trip to Snoqualmie Falls was truly a highlight of my Pacific Northwest adventure! This majestic waterfall in Washington State offers stunning views no matter when you visit, but I've got some personal tips on how to make your experience extra special, especially if you're looking to capture those Instagram-worthy moments. Chasing the Golden Hour: Snoqualmie Falls Sunrise If you're an early bird like me, you absolutely must experience Snoqualmie Falls at sunrise. I woke up extra early, grabbed a coffee, and headed out when it was still a bit dark. The payoff was incredible! As the sun began to peek over the horizon, the mist rising from the falls caught the first golden rays, creating a truly ethereal glow. It felt like I had the entire spectacle to myself. The best spot I found for sunrise photos was near the upper observation deck – the light hits the falls perfectly there, and the air is so crisp and fresh. Parking is usually easy at this hour, and the peaceful atmosphere is just magical. It’s a completely different vibe compared to visiting later in the day. The Iconic Boardwalk Observation Deck No visit to Snoqualmie Falls is complete without making your way to the boardwalk observation deck. This is perhaps the most famous viewpoint, and for good reason! The accessible boardwalk takes you right to the edge, where you're eye-level with the powerful rush of water. I literally felt the spray on my face – it's an exhilarating experience. From here, you get a panoramic view of the falls plunging into the Snoqualmie River below. It’s perfect for families and gives you that quintessential Snoqualmie Falls photo. I spent a good amount of time here, just soaking in the sheer power and beauty of nature. There are often informative plaques along the boardwalk, too, sharing interesting facts about the falls and the local ecosystem. Painting the Sky: Snoqualmie Falls Sunset After experiencing the dawn, I decided to return for sunset on another day, and it was equally breathtaking, but in a completely different way. As the day wound down, the sky transformed into a canvas of oranges, pinks, and purples, casting a warm, dramatic light over the falls. The atmosphere felt more romantic and serene, with fewer crowds than midday. I found a great spot along the paths leading down from the main lodge area, which offered a slightly elevated perspective. The way the setting sun illuminated the surrounding forests and the churning water was simply unforgettable. It’s a fantastic option if you prefer a more relaxed evening visit, perhaps even followed by dinner at one of the nearby eateries. Finding the Best Lookout Spots Beyond the main observation deck, I discovered several other fantastic lookout points around Snoqualmie Falls that offer unique perspectives. There’s a lower observation deck you can reach via a short, paved trail (note: it's a bit of a hike back up, but totally worth it!). This lower vantage point puts you closer to the river and allows you to appreciate the falls' immense scale from below. I also stumbled upon some smaller, unmarked trails (always stick to designated paths for safety!) that offered glimpses through the trees, providing more intimate views. My advice? Don't be afraid to wander a little (safely, of course!) and explore the different paths. Each lookout tells a slightly different story of this magnificent natural wonder. Remember to wear comfortable shoes, as you'll want to take your time exploring all the angles. Enjoy your visit – it's truly a place that stays with you!

Yes, Seattle the city is wonderful and worth your time to explore, but IMO you can’t visit the pacific northwest without exploring some of the outdoors! These are all easy options that are close to Seattle - some you can even do in just a couple of hours 👀 📍Rattlesnake Ledge Rattlesnake Ridge
