🌱Byoma Skin Care 4/10~ Honestly my favorite thing about the Byoma Skin Care is that, it is not heavily scented. However, I found that over the 2-3 months I’ve been applying these products, it’s caused my skin to get really dry, flake and has brought my acne back even worse. My least favorite product is the Toner as it burns my skin and the Sun Screen causes little tiny bumps all over my face. The only product I do like is the Brightening Serum.
🌱Byoma Body Wash 5/10~ I absolutely love the scent of this the Byoma Brightening Body Wash but it lacks hydration to the body
🌱Natrium Body Wash 0/10~ Smells awful and caused more body acne
💚This is 100% my opinion of these products but everyone reacts differently to every product.
... Read moreNavigating the world of skincare can be tricky, and what works wonders for one person might cause issues for another. After my personal experience with Byoma skincare, which left my skin dry and dealing with acne, and even caused irritation from products like their toner and sunscreen, I wanted to share some insights and tips that might help others who are exploring new brands or struggling with similar reactions.
Understanding Your Skin's Reactions
When a product causes dryness, flaking, or brings on breakouts, it often points to a potential disruption of your skin barrier. While Byoma is often marketed towards barrier care, some ingredients or formulations might not suit everyone. For example, some active ingredients, even those generally considered gentle, can be too potent if your skin is already sensitive or compromised. It's crucial to listen to your skin. If you experience burning, redness, or excessive dryness, it's usually a sign to discontinue use.
Many of the queries I see ask, "is Byoma bad for your skin?" Based on my personal journey, for my skin type, certain Byoma products caused more harm than good. This isn't to say Byoma is inherently 'bad,' but rather that individual skin chemistry plays a huge role. For those with dull skin looking for brightening, Byoma's brightening serum was the only product I liked, but it didn't outweigh the negatives from the rest of the line, including their cleanser and moisturizer which I didn't find effective enough for my needs. Patch testing new products, especially on a small area of your face or neck, can help identify potential irritants before applying them all over.
Diving Deeper into Body Care
My journey also included Byoma's Brightening Body Wash, which, despite a lovely scent, didn't provide enough hydration. Many look for body washes with ingredients like niacinamide and azelaic acid for brightening and evening skin tone. While these can be beneficial, a good body wash should also prioritize moisture retention, especially if you have dry skin. Look for ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, or nourishing oils. If a body wash leaves your skin feeling tight or dry, it's likely stripping too much of its natural oils, which can lead to discomfort and even exacerbate body acne.
Speaking of body acne, my experience with the Naturium The Smoother Glycolic Acid Body Wash was particularly disappointing. Not only did the smell put me off, but it actually made my body acne worse. Glycolic acid is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) known for exfoliation, which can be great for smoothing skin texture and addressing body acne for some. However, for others, especially if used too frequently or if the concentration is too high, it can irritate the skin, disrupt the barrier, and paradoxically trigger more breakouts or sensitivity. If you're struggling with body acne, consider alternatives like salicylic acid body washes, which are oil-soluble and can penetrate deeper into pores to clear congestion, or look for gentler exfoliating options or even just focus on hydrating and soothing ingredients.
personally byoma never worked for me, now good molecules i love, their serums are what i mostly get and they’re great!! (niacinamide + 5% ectoin, hylaronic acid, and their overnight exfoliating serum) i tried some other products they’re meh/alright, but im mostly going for hydration though.
