How Creative Are You, Friend?
While I cannot personally draw to save my life, I am quite imaginative when it comes to what I want my characters that look like and what I want my storyline to be.
I love how I can use the AI app to ask them to create the characters that I have in my mind so they come out in the vision that the AI App creates.
I decided that I don’t want all my characters to be perfect or unflawed.
I do want some of my characters to have things that are uncommon like vitiligo, heterochromia, albinism, etc. because I think everyone deserves to be seen, everyone deserves to be seen as normal and we’re all beautiful.
And no, I’m NOT like titling my books based on the specific characteristic.
I actually don’t care for that.
While I’m not knocking for example the BBW (I’m a BBW) and Billionaire romance novels, I cringe every single time I see that descriptor!
I get we are drawing in a certain audience so I say, to each their own.
My audience is urban so a white suburban housewife may not enjoy my writing as it’s not geared towards her.
I had someone who didn’t enjoy my AI cover creation so I’m assuming, they didn’t read my books to see how good they actually are.
However, your creative niche is YOURS and you can’t let naysayers deter you.
You know your gift!
You know how much you love your craft!
You do your BIG ONE, friend!
I just urge you to spellcheck, use good grammar (even if you’re using slang, the rest of your text should be legible), proofread, edit and format your novel properly and professionally.
Make it look appealing.
Learn as much as you can on your own to reduce your out of pocket expenses.
Keep up with the times (ie, a lot of people are moving to electronic books as hard cover books are becoming a rarer, more expensive thing).
Know what’s hot and what’s not.
Don’t be elitist and think you’re so much better than other authors because the same author you’re thumbing your nose at just hit number one on the Amazon store three weeks in a row, love!
Remain humble.
Set aside time and focus because that Writer’s Block is REAL!
Don’t be afraid to explore different ideas and genres either.
You got this, friend!
YOU GOT THIS!
In today's evolving literary landscape, authors are increasingly turning to innovative technologies like AI to enhance their creativity and bring their imagined characters to life. This approach not only allows writers to visualize their characters more vividly but also promotes inclusivity by representing uncommon physical traits such as vitiligo, heterochromia, and albinism. These unique characteristics help normalize diversity and foster a deeper connection between readers and characters. Beyond character creation, authors should focus on professionalism by meticulously editing, proofreading, and formatting their work. High-quality presentation can significantly impact readers' perceptions and book sales. As the industry shifts towards electronic formats, understanding current trends and adapting to new publishing models is crucial for sustaining success. Maintaining humility and openness is essential in the competitive writing world. Recognizing the achievements of peers without elitism nurtures a supportive creative community. Additionally, writers must combat challenges like writer’s block through dedicated focus and by exploring various genres and ideas, which can enrich their craft and expand their audience reach. For urban authors crafting niche stories, identifying your target audience and tailoring content accordingly ensures engagement and authenticity. Despite occasional criticism, confidence in your creative voice and style empowers you to persist and grow. Ultimately, combining traditional writing skills with modern tools and a resilient mindset defines the path to literary fulfillment and recognition. Embracing these elements offers writers a comprehensive strategy for success in contemporary storytelling.
