Food in Germany! 🇩🇪

#lemon8diarychallenge

Before heading to Germany, I got mixed opinions on what others thought of the food out there. Some said it was amazing, others hated it! I am not picky whatsoever so I expected to love everything, especially the authentic German cuisine.

There were so many different food options, Thai food, Japanese, authentic German restaurants, Indian food, basically everything! If you are nervous of the food that Germany has to offer, don’t worry! I was shocked to see the wide array of cuisines throughout the country!

I absolutely loved and adored the food, especially Schnitzel😍 Everything was so fresh, and believe it or not I had absolutely no bad reactions to any dairy or meat while there, which I usually do in the states!!

Part 2 is coming soon! Let me know in the comments what traditional German food you would like to try! 🫶🏻

... Read moreBuilding on what you've heard, let me tell you more about truly *exploring German cuisine*! While the article touches on the fantastic variety, I want to dive deeper into some specific regional delights and traditional must-tries that made my taste buds sing. If you're heading south, especially to Munich or anywhere in *Bavaria*, get ready for hearty, comforting food. You absolutely HAVE to try *Käsespätzle*. This cheesy pasta dish, often topped with crispy fried onions, is a revelation – it’s like the ultimate German mac and cheese! And of course, a soft, salty butter pretzel is non-negotiable, perfect with a local beer or even an *Aperol Spritz*. Bavarian food is all about warmth and satisfaction, making every dinner in Germany feel like a special occasion. Moving north, places like Hamburg offer a different culinary scene. While the article mentioned diverse international options, for a traditional 'fich dish german' experience, look out for fresh seafood. Fischbrötchen (fish sandwiches) are iconic street food, especially around the harbor. It’s a quick, delicious bite that truly captures the local flavor. And when it comes to *best things to eat in Berlin*, this vibrant city is a true melting pot. Beyond the typical Currywurst, I found incredible international restaurants, much like the article mentioned with Thai, Indian, and even some amazing chickpea curry or *miso salmon*. But for a classic German dinner, don’t miss out on dishes like the perfectly cooked *Wiener Schnitzel plate lemon potato salad*. The crispiness of the schnitzel paired with the tangy potato salad and a squeeze of fresh lemon is just divine. That 10/10 Schnitzel in the OCR definitely captured the magic! Speaking of traditional dishes, if you visit in spring, keep an eye out for Spargelzeit or white asparagus season. This delicate vegetable, served with hollandaise sauce and boiled potatoes, is a true German delicacy that surprised me with its deliciousness – definitely a 10/10 experience! The OCR image of the white asparagus truly showcases this seasonal highlight. And for those with a sweet tooth or simply looking for a 'list of German desserts', you can't go wrong with *Spaghetti Ice-cream*. It sounds wild (vanilla ice cream pressed to look like spaghetti, topped with strawberry sauce and white chocolate shavings), but it's incredibly fun and tasty! Don't forget to grab some fresh strawberries if they're in season; German strawberries are exceptionally sweet. My final tip for navigating Germany food is to embrace the variety. Don't be afraid to try everything, from the traditional hearty meals to the surprisingly fresh and diverse international offerings. Every meal, whether it’s a full German dinner or a quick snack, is an opportunity to discover something new and delicious!
