Dress Like Old Money (ON A BUDGET)
Goodmorning my sweet Lemon8 friends,
I really have loved making this thread of dressing like “old money” on a budget, but keeping with the importance of Christ at the center of how we dress and act.
As mentioned in my first post about this, old money was essentially about excess and over indulgence and pride in the way one’s appearance was. However being a woman of God we must clothe ourselves in His righteousness. The Lord does not care about outward beauty or the things that we wear, He cares about the heart. The old money aesthetic has us to think about elegance. A regalness of a woman of God in what she wears.
However, many of us live in a culture where anything goes in regard to what we wear. I was in that place as well so there is no judgment here! However, God has been putting it in my heart to be mindful of what I wear because we are Christs ambassadors while we are here on earth. We are to represent the bride of Christ.
Many people think of dressing modestly as boring clothing, no style, but this isn’t true! Looking at the Proverbs 31 woman she dressed well. She first clothes herself in the righteousness of God and God added to her portion. She wore fine purple linens she was a good representation of the godly women of the day.
What the focus on here is we are called to be set apart from the women of the world. Paul says in Romans 12:2 - “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
But as I mentioned in previous posts fine linens these days are just out of the realm of possibility for many of us. And just know that if you focus on the Lord your God all of this will be added to you.
However, if you are interested in trying to start to dress modestly and are on a tight budget and don’t know where to start here are some ideas you can have!
It seemed people responded well to shopping on SHEIN even though I do not support the ideals of their labor and business models I know this is truly all many can afford. So these are from there.
However, If you want to try some fine linens for a better budget I highly recommend ThredUp. I just went on a spree of modest clothing and got things I’ve never been able to afford for insanely cheap prices. They have stuff like Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, Madewell etc. for extremely discounted rates!
So if you don’t want to shop SHEIN and still want actual fine linens on a budget price. ThredUp is your best friend!
Use the link below for a 40% off discount of already discounted prices!

Remember don’t stress about what you will eat or what you will wear. Life is more than this. God doesn’t care about this if your heart and soul isn’t fixed on Him. But He does call us to be set apart and to be mindful of the way we dress!
Father God in the name of Jesus, Lord there is someone on the other side of this page who is struggling with modesty. Comfort them Lord, let them know you’re still working in them and that your timing is perfect. I ask Lord that when they struggle they first seek you and your face so it isn’t something they worry about, but clothe themselves first in your righteousness. I pray Lord that hearts be open and willing to receive your perfect word and wear them as garments over their hearts. Let every person who doesn’t know you who sees this be open to getting to know their Heavenly Father who created them, who knit them in their mother’s womb, who clothes them with His heavenly armor. Lord I pray that you encourage these women to dress well, that we represent you Jesus while we are here on earth until we wear our robes of white in Heaven with you. In Jesus mighty name I pray, amen!

Lastly, remember that true style stems from confidence and knowing that elegance shines from within. Embrace your identity and let your inner beauty guide your fashion choices, ensuring they align with both your personal taste and spiritual values.

I love this post. I have been embracing a more classic look. I recently got back from Europe and their style is so clean and fresh.
