The Convertible Top, the Wind, and the Soul

There are moments in life when we are like a convertible car driving with the top down.

The wind runs through our hair, the world touches our skin without filters, and everything feels more alive, fresher, more unpredictable.

This state symbolizes an open soul.

It’s when we are brave enough to feel everything! The beautiful, the intense, and even the uncomfortable.

It is surrender.

It is active vulnerability.

It is allowing life to enter, letting the wind stir what had been static, letting the sun reach places that stayed too long in the shade.

From a psychoanalytic perspective, this is the moment when the “true self” takes the wheel.

With fewer defenses, fewer protective mechanisms, fewer artificial layers between what we feel and what we express.

It is the self in expansion…! Even if messy, even if disorganized, even if challenged by the unpredictable.

But no one lives forever with the top down.

There are days, phases, and processes when we need to close the top.

Not out of fear…! but out of emotional intelligence.

Because there are storms that call for withdrawal, and there are silences that can only happen within the shelter of one’s inner world.

With the top up, we turn on the soul’s air conditioning:

controlled temperature, clear boundaries, protected space.

It is introspection, it is organization, it is caring for what is too sensitive to remain exposed to the wind.

Spiritually, this movement is sacred.

It speaks of cycles.

Of expansion and retreat.

Of openness and protection.

Of living with an open heart and knowing when to preserve one’s emotional territory.

Because spiritual maturity is not about living forever at risk; it is about knowing how to alternate:

When to let the wind shape our destiny,

and when to close the top to recover strength, reorganize inner codes, and not allow just any breeze to invade what is still healing.

Deep down, the convertible car is us:

Half freedom, half shelter.

Half courage, half care.

Half movement, half pause.

Wisdom lies in recognizing the right time for each posture.

And the greatest truth is always this:

A lifetime with the top closed is a prison.

And a lifetime with the top down is exhaustion.

The soul finds balance in the back and forth; between showing itself and retreating, between feeling the wind and honoring silence, between opening the chest and protecting the essence.

The secret is not choosing one definitive mode.

It is having enough awakened awareness to perceive:

now is a time for wind.

now is a time for shelter.

And honoring each phase as a fundamental part of one’s own path. 😉✨
