January TBR Jar 🫙 Pick Review…

1/22 Edited to

... Read moreIf you're a fan of dark romance and twisted fairy tale retellings, The Vicious Lost Boys Series by Nikki St. Crowe offers a uniquely captivating experience. The series focuses on the Darling girls, who are kidnapped by a sinister Peter Pan and taken to an eerie Neverland, but this is far from the classic tale you might know. The narrative twists familiar stories into darker, more adult themes — which makes it gripping and unpredictable. What makes this series stand out is the way it embraces the 'Why Choose?' romance trope, giving readers the pleasure of multiple compelling love interests rather than limiting them to one boxed-in romance. This approach adds complexity and depth to the characters and storyline, keeping the plot fresh and engaging. The spin-off Devourer Series takes this darkness further by focusing on a reimagined Captain Hook and diving deep into his connection to the Darling girls and Neverland’s shadowy lore. It brilliantly bridges the gap between classic myth and modern dark romance, all while emotionally hooking the reader with intense relationships and high-stakes drama. From a personal perspective, starting the series felt like opening a jar filled with suspense and forbidden allure; each book peeled back layers of mystery and desire that kept me fully invested. The blend of fantasy, danger, and steamy romance creates a perfect combo for those who crave a story that isn’t afraid to explore the darker, more complicated sides of love. If you enjoy stories that challenge typical fairy tale narratives by adding adult, edgy elements, and characters who refuse to settle for simple love, these series will be a worthwhile addition to your reading list. They are ideal choices to pick for monthly TBR jars when you want something bite-sized but impactful. Definitely recommend reading these books together for a full experience—The Vicious Lost Boys sets the stage with its fresh, dark retelling, and The Devourer Series completes the narrative arc with thrilling continuation and expansion of the world Nikki St. Crowe has masterfully created.
