My Journey from RN to MD 🩺🤍
My MD Journey!
I always dreamed of becoming a doctor, but self-doubt held me back. Instead, I started my joumey as an RN, working in the ER, exposed to countless cases that fueled my desire to do more. I pursued my NP, hoping it would fill the gap-but deep down, I knew I wanted to go further.
I took a leap, applied to medical school, and got in. To support myself, I worked while studying, making an already tough journey even harder. Medical school tested me in every way-personally, financially, and emotionally but I kept pushing.
Now, I'm officially a general surgery resident. The journey wasn't easy, but it was worth it. From RN to MD... and this is just the beginning.
#General Surgery
My journey from an RN to an MD truly began with the realization that I wanted more from my medical career. Starting as a registered nurse (RN) in the emergency room (ER) exposed me to a variety of cases that strengthened my resolve to advance in the medical field. Despite battling self-doubt, I enrolled in a nurse practitioner (NP) program, hoping it would satisfy my desire for more responsibility and knowledge. However, the urge to deepen my medical proficiency never dulled. Eventually, I took the leap into medical school, working part-time to sustain myself while navigating rigorous studies and clinical rotations. Each day was a test of resilience, as juggling responsibilities made my journey increasingly challenging. Yet, the experience also offered incredible insights and invaluable lessons that shaped me into a well-rounded medical professional. My time in medical school ignited a passion for surgery, culminating in my current role as a general surgery resident. I loved the surgical electives and thrived during my clinical rotations. They often reminded me of why I embarked on this path: to make a meaningful impact on patients’ lives. The road wasn’t easy, but the struggles added depth to my understanding of the medical field. From working during the COVID-19 pandemic in the ER and ICU to matching into a competitive residency, I emerged more dedicated than ever. This journey, transitioning from RN to MD, is just the beginning. I'm excited to continue this path, facing every challenge head-on and embracing the opportunities to learn and grow in my medical career.
