📖 May: Powerful by Lauren Roberts
“If darkness is the absence of light, then that is what I am when she is not around. And I wonder how I’ve stumbled this long without her to guide me.”
“See you in the sky”
Since my bookclub read Powerless in January, of course we had the read the novella, Powerful by Lauren Roberts in May. Not gonna lie, I wasn’t expecting my novella to be “kindle sized” lol I was truly shocked by the size of the book. It was great reading Adena’s love story with Mak and yes the ending broke my heart all over again. I gave this book 3.5 ✨

Okay, let's dive deeper into Powerful by Lauren Roberts! Like many of you, when this novella was announced, I instantly wondered if it was Powerless Book 2. I quickly learned it’s a brilliant bridge story, offering crucial insights into Adena and Mak's journey. It’s not a full-length novel, but don't let its 'kindle size' fool you—it packs an incredibly powerful emotional punch! I found it the perfect length for a quick, intense read that fills in so many crucial gaps from the first book. It definitely answered some lingering questions I had after finishing *Powerless*. For those who might be new to this captivating world, Lauren Roberts is truly a master storyteller, building an intricate fantasy romance universe. She's the brilliant mind behind the entire Powerless trilogy, and Powerful further solidifies her talent for crafting high-stakes narratives and deeply emotional connections. If you're searching for books that keep you on the edge of your seat and make your heart ache in the best way, you’re in the right place. And yes, Powerful absolutely carries on that New York Times Bestseller legacy! The undeniable heart of Powerful lies with Adena and Mak. Their connection is just… everything. The original review perfectly captured their intense love story, and I couldn't agree more. This novella genuinely delves into their dynamic, showing us more of their vulnerabilities, their strengths, and the complex choices they face. We see the layers of their relationship unfold, often against a backdrop of impending danger. That iconic cover, with its striking sword design, intertwined with purple ribbon and delicate green ivy? It perfectly encapsulates the blend of strength, hope, and the beautiful yet perilous nature of their intertwined fates. It felt like such a crucial piece for understanding their past and anticipating their future. Now, onto a question I see popping up everywhere: 'Is Powerful by Lauren Roberts spicy?' While the original article didn't explicitly touch on this, based on my experience with Lauren Roberts’s writing in this series, it leans more towards intense emotional connection and high-stakes romance rather than overtly explicit spice. There are absolutely passionate moments and undeniable chemistry between Adena and Mak that will leave you swooning and breathless, but if you're anticipating something overtly steamy, it might not be the primary focus. It’s more about the building tension, the deep bond, and the emotional intimacy that defines their relationship. Honestly, reading Powerful felt like a necessary emotional journey. It truly prepares you for what's to come in the series, while also giving you that satisfying, deeper glimpse into Adena and Mak's past. For anyone who adored *Powerless*, this novella is non-negotiable. It deepens the world, enriches the characters, and makes you even more invested in their fate. My book club absolutely devoured it, and while the ending was bittersweet, it left us buzzing and eagerly awaiting the next installment. It's a true testament to Lauren Roberts' storytelling that even a novella can leave such a lasting impression. Seriously, don't skip it if you want the full, heart-wrenching picture!
