Condoms On My Sausage? No thank you!

I’ve been buying these Great Value sausages forever and somehow JUST found out you can peel the casing off before cooking them.

Babyyyyy… why did nobody tell me?! 😭

They cook up softer, get a better sear, and honestly taste way better to me. Now I can’t eat them any other way.

Tell me I’m not the only one who was late to this discovery. 😂

... Read moreWhen I first learned that you could remove the casing from Great Value breakfast sausages before cooking, it completely changed my perspective on how to prepare them. Removing the casing not only helps the sausages cook more evenly but also allows them to crisp up better, especially when cooked with a bit of butter and seasoning like roasted garlic and herb. Taking the casing off gives the meat direct contact with the pan, which helps develop a richer sear and fuller flavor. I like to slice the sausage meat into smaller pieces once the casing is off, almost like breakfast sausage patties or crumbles, so they cook faster and have more surface area to get that crispy edge I love. Adding garlic powder, black pepper, and a pinch of chili flakes can elevate the flavor even more. Butter is key in my pan because it lends a nice nutty aroma and prevents the meat from sticking. If you are worried about texture, removing the casing actually softens the sausage and creates a more tender bite compared to cooking them whole in the casing, which can have a chewy snap that some people find off-putting. This method has made these affordable Great Value sausages feel more gourmet in my kitchen. For those thinking about a quick and tasty breakfast idea, try this technique along with some sautéed onions and peppers for a full flavor-packed meal. So yes—I’m definitely late to this discovery too, but now I can’t go back to cooking sausages any other way!
