Take, for example, the catastrophic flooding of Wakanda caused by Namor wielding the Phoenix Force, which devastated countless lives. It’s a reminder that great power, when combined with desperation or misguided motives, can cause immense suffering. Similarly, Legion’s attempt to alter time in the "Age of Apocalypse" saga resulted in unintended tragedy, demonstrating how even well-meaning actions can spiral out of control. The psychological torment Storm endured, being kidnapped and forced to live through traumatic events while another used her body, adds a chilling layer to the narrative. It highlights the vulnerabilities mutants face beyond physical battles, such as mind control and identity violations. Terrifying events like the Technorganic Plague unleashed by Beast’s unethical experiment reveal how political and scientific decisions can lead to devastating consequences, intertwining mutant powers with real-world ethical dilemmas. Another striking story involves Magik's vengeful actions against the Elder Gods, showing that mutant conflicts can also engage supernatural elements and cosmic-level threats. Magneto’s global EMP wave after the Genosha disaster is significant as it reflects the extent of mutant power to disrupt modern civilization itself. This event echoes real fears about technology dependency and the fragile balance of power. Even more tragic is the innocent Jesse, whose mutant powers inadvertently released toxic radiation, underlining that mutation effects can sometimes be uncontrollable and dangerously unpredictable. Finally, the mental collapse of Jean Grey into Dark Phoenix and the destruction of a star system illustrate the ultimate consequence of unchecked power—cosmic-scale devastation affecting billions. In all these stories, the recurring theme is that mutant powers come with grave responsibility and sometimes heartbreaking consequences.
