Hey everyone! So many of you have asked about my paddleboarding adventures, especially with Peggy, and I just had to share more about our favorite spot: Sand Hollow State Park. If you're looking for a gorgeous place to hit the water, trust me, this is it! What makes Sand Hollow so special for paddleboarding? First off, the vibrant red rock scenery is absolutely breathtaking. You're surrounded by stunning geological formations, and the contrast with the clear blue water is just incredible. It's not just pretty though; the water is usually quite calm, especially in the mornings, which is perfect whether you're a beginner or bringing along a furry friend like my Peggy. I always recommend getting there early to beat the heat and the crowds, plus the morning light for photos is just *chef's kiss*. When I plan a trip to Sand Hollow, especially with Peggy, preparation is key. For us humans, don't forget your sunscreen, a hat, plenty of water (hydration is crucial in Utah!), and maybe some snacks. For your pup, a doggy life vest is non-negotiable for safety, even if they're strong swimmers. Peggy has her own little vest, and it gives me such peace of mind. I also bring a portable water bowl and fresh water for her, along with some high-value treats to reward her for staying calm on the board. A non-slip mat for your board can also make a huge difference, giving your dog better footing and confidence. My first time paddleboarding with Peggy at Sand Hollow was an experience! We started slow, just letting her get comfortable on the board on dry land, then in shallow water. Once she seemed okay, we gently pushed off. It took a few tries, and a lot of encouragement, but seeing her little tail wagging as we glided across the water was worth every effort. She loves to perch at the front, acting like our little captain! Beyond paddleboarding, Sand Hollow offers so much. You can swim, cliff jump (if you're brave!), or even explore some of the sandy beaches. There are also ATV trails nearby if you're into that. But for a peaceful day on the water, you really can't beat it. Just remember to pack out everything you pack in, and respect the natural beauty of the park. Happy paddling!
