Mollie and her youngest Brodie
Mollie has been trying to be more involved in Brodie’s development lately.
In the first few photos, she’s helping him practice sitting up. In the second photo, she gets to experience something she missed with the older kids — helping one of her babies try food other than milk for the very first time. She wasn’t in the room when either India or Freddie had their first foods, though she was the one who fed Freddie one of his infant favorites… not so surprisingly, ice cream.
Brodie’s first food was pumpkin purée — it felt right since it was fall in-game. He wasn’t too sure about it at first, but he ended up getting the Messy Eater quirk, which I love, especially since India had it too.
Part of this shift comes from Mollie making a mom friend at work who struggled with similar bonding issues. Being able to talk to someone who understands not feeling that instant connection with your baby helped Mollie a lot. She’s officially putting in more effort now, and that growth really matters — even if she’s still drinking heavily and usually either tipsy or drunk.
I’ll be making a post tomorrow introducing the mom friend Mollie met at work and her family. They won’t be the main focus going forward, but they’ll pop up occasionally, so I wanted to give them a small introduction too.
