Door County WI
Went on a beautiful trip up north to Door County, WI and had some delicious treats that I wanted to share. It was my first time there and it was absolutely gorgeous! For those of you who don’t know, Door County is that little peninsula that sticks out of Wisconsin and into Lake Michigan. The water was so clear and blue I was utterly amazed by it. They had wonderful hiking trails, beautiful forests and cherry orchards everywhere. And the little towns along the upper peninsula were just so cute! Loved Fish Creek and Sister’s Bay, Sturgeon Bay was also super adorable! Highly recommend for summer or a fall trip. Fall I think would be stunning up there, just bring your bug spray. lol

During my visit to Door County, WI, I found the local food scene to be truly exceptional and a highlight of the trip. A must-try is the famous cheese curds from Renard’s — crispy on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside, with a perfect balance of savory flavor that pairs wonderfully with the region’s artisan cheeses, including their natural cheddar infused with local Door County cherries. Another favorite treat was the apple pie from Grandma Tommy’s, which delivers a perfect blend of sweet and tart, made from freshly picked apples from the abundant orchards. For something unique, try the chocolate-covered Montmorency dried cherries, a local specialty that combines the natural tartness of the cherries with rich dark chocolate — a delightful snack or gift. If you’re in the mood for something savory, Wild Tomato Pizza Stop offers fresh, wood-fired pizzas with locally sourced ingredients making each bite flavorful and satisfying. And don’t miss the creamy ice cream from the Door County Ice Cream Shop, which provides a sweet finish on a warm day of exploring. Besides indulgent food, Door County’s outdoor offerings are incredible. I recommend hiking some of the scenic trails through the lush forests and along the water’s edge where the views of Lake Michigan’s clear blue waters are breathtaking. Visiting in the fall means you’ll get to experience vibrant foliage and cool, crisp air, but bring bug spray as mosquitoes can be persistent. The small towns like Fish Creek, Sister’s Bay, and Sturgeon Bay each have their own unique charm with boutique shops, cozy cafes, and friendly locals. This makes Door County ideal for a relaxing summer getaway or a colorful autumn retreat. Overall, combining outdoor adventures with delicious local food makes Door County a memorable destination for anyone looking to connect with nature and enjoy authentic regional flavors.
