Stone Mountain Venture

Yesterday I went to Stone Mountain. It was a great way to break away from day to day life.

I’m feeling it today though. My legs hurt so bad 😂.

But the view in too of that mountain was beautiful. No words can describe it. It’s so peaceful out there and it was nice to enjoy the outdoors and have peace even for one day.

Remember to take time for yourself. You deserve a you day and you time every week. #hiking 🥾 #stonemountainstatepark #stonemountain #nc #heathergetsfit

... Read moreHey fellow adventurers! After my recent trip to Stone Mountain State Park, I just had to share more about what made it so special. My legs are still recovering, but honestly, every ache is a reminder of the incredible time I had disconnecting and soaking in nature's beauty. If you're wondering what kind of adventure awaits, let me tell you, the trails here are phenomenal. I explored parts of the Stone Mountain Loop Trail, which offers a great mix of challenging climbs and rewarding views. The OCR images even showed signs for Wolf Rock-Cedar Rock Trails, which are definitely on my list for next time! The main draw, of course, is the massive granite dome itself. Reaching the summit after logging over 18,000 steps and 8 miles (my activity tracker didn't lie!) was absolutely worth it. The panoramic views from the top are simply breathtaking – you can see layers of mountains stretching into the distance. It’s the kind of scenery that makes you pause and just be present. One of the really unique features I discovered was the Hutchinson Homestead. The historical information panel I saw mentioned the family's 120-year history here, and walking through their old settlement really takes you back in time. It’s amazing to think about the life they built in such a rugged, beautiful place. It adds such a rich layer to the hiking experience, beyond just the physical challenge. You can even find a peaceful waterfall cascading over rocks nearby, which makes for a perfect photo op or a quiet moment of reflection. For anyone planning a visit, consider what you want to see. Are you looking for a strenuous hike like mine, or something more leisurely? The park has options for everyone. Don't forget your camera, because trust me, you'll want to capture those Stone Mountain park photos! Whether it's the iconic granite dome, the lush forests, or those serene waterfalls, every corner offers a picture-perfect moment. Wear comfortable shoes, pack plenty of water, and maybe even a snack to enjoy at one of the scenic overlooks. It's truly a place to enjoy the outdoors and find a little peace, even if it's just for one day. Make sure to check the park's official website for directions and trail maps to help you plan "how far is Stone Mountain from me" and choose the best route for your adventure. Trust me, a 'you day' spent here is a day well spent!
