Baby Lanna sitting up🥰

It feels like just yesterday she was tiny, and now she's exploring the world from a whole new vantage point on her cozy grey patterned blanket. This milestone isn't just adorable – watching her proudly sit, perhaps in her cute white onesie with that colorful unicorn, it also got me thinking about her next big developmental step: starting solids. I've been doing a lot of research on Baby-Led Weaning (BLW), and it’s something I’m definitely considering for Lanna as she grows. For those who might be new to it, BLW is basically letting your baby feed themselves finger foods right from the start, instead of relying on purees. The idea is to empower them to explore different textures, tastes, and develop their fine motor skills. It’s supposed to foster a really positive relationship with food, and honestly, the thought of skipping the spoon-feeding battles sounds pretty appealing! One of the biggest reasons I'm leaning towards BLW is seeing Lanna's curiosity. She's already so keen to grab things and bring them to her mouth. I imagine her dark eyes sparkling with excitement as she picks up a soft piece of avocado or a steamed carrot stick. The main thing is that they need to be able to sit upright unassisted, which Lanna is doing beautifully now! They also need to show interest in food and have lost their tongue-thrust reflex. Always good to check with your pediatrician, of course. Some tips I've picked up for starting BLW include offering appropriately sized and shaped foods to minimize choking hazards – think finger-sized strips rather than small round pieces. Soft cooked vegetables, ripe fruits, and even strips of meat are great starting points. And definitely be prepared for mess! That's half the fun, right? I'm already picturing Lanna's curly dark hair getting a little bit messy, but it’s all part of the learning process. It's not just about the food; it's about fostering independence and letting them learn at their own pace. I've heard stories from other moms about how their babies loved experimenting with different foods, and it really helped them become less picky eaters later on. It’s a journey, and every baby is different, but I'm excited about the possibility of Lanna exploring her food with confidence. It'll be a whole new adventure for us, watching her discover new flavors and textures, perhaps even making a mess on her pink-trimmed unicorn onesie. It's all part of the beautiful chaos of raising a little one!
