Boba & Mochi Donuts

I found the cutest little Boba and donut shop in Longmont of all places. Idk, but I might have to move here so I can get this for breakfast every morning. 😉

This was my first time trying mochi donuts, and I have to say, my favorite was the taro flavor. This wasn't a surprise to me since I've always loved taro, but I had to give the strawberry and classic flavors a chance. 😅

Have you ever had mochi donuts? Did you like them?

... Read moreOMG, you guys, I'm still dreaming about those mochi donuts! Since so many of you are curious, I wanted to dive a little deeper into what makes these treats so special and why you absolutely HAVE to try them, especially if you're ever in Longmont. First off, let's talk about mochi donuts themselves. If you've never had one, prepare for a revelation! They're not like your typical fluffy or cakey American donut. Mochi donuts, often called 'pon de ring' in Japan, are made with glutinous rice flour, which gives them this incredible, chewy, bouncy texture. It's almost like a delightful, airy chewiness that you just don't get with regular donuts. That perfect 'chew' is what I really loved. My taro one? Pure bliss! The subtle sweetness and unique flavor of taro perfectly matched that satisfying, slightly stretchy bite. I also tried the strawberry and a classic glazed from that adorable pink box, and they were all fantastic, but taro definitely stole my heart. Now, about the boba! What's better than a chewy donut? A chewy donut with a refreshing boba tea! I ordered a classic milk tea with my donuts, and it was the perfect balance. If you're looking at a menu like the one I saw, don't be afraid to experiment. Beyond the standard milk teas, many places offer fruit teas, cheese foam toppings, or even fresh fruit infusions. If you're new to boba, start with a classic milk tea or a simple fruit tea. For toppings, tapioca pearls (the 'boba' itself) are a must-try, but don't overlook popping boba or jellies for a different texture experience. Finding this spot in Longmont was such a pleasant surprise. It really reminded me that sometimes the best food discoveries happen in unexpected places. The vibe was super cute, and seeing that 'IT'S A SOBER state of mind' sign in the background just added to the unique charm. It’s definitely a place where you can relax and enjoy your sweet treats. My personal tip for your first mochi donut adventure? Don't just stick to the familiar. While a classic glazed is always good, dare to try a unique flavor like taro, matcha, or black sesame. The unique texture of mochi donuts really shines with these more distinct tastes. And definitely, definitely pair it with a boba tea. It's the ultimate sweet indulgence! I'm already planning my next trip back to try more flavors and maybe even try a different boba combination. Who knows, maybe I'll find my next favorite!
