Comic Book Issue #1
Join me, Jeremy Swick, on “Into The Unknown Podcast” @pod.intotheunknown that delves into personal journeys, stories, and experiences of individuals across diverse life experiences. As a historian by trade, I firmly believe that our personal histories shape our present and offer valuable insights into our paths ahead. With that being said let’s get into it! I’ve had the fortune to meet many incredible people in my life and created a platform to share those stories, while it may be somewhat sports and history heavy, I’ve expanded to talk to a wide array of people and can’t wait to share those stories!
If you’re interested/willing/able I’d love for you to follow the journey!

When I titled my first article 'Comic Book Issue #1,' it wasn't just a catchy phrase; it was a deeply personal reflection. Like many of you who love diving into a new comic series, I believe everyone has an intricate 'origin story' waiting to be told. My own life, much like an evolving graphic novel, has had its defining chapters, each one shaping the person I am today. From the moment I was born in Guatemala in October of 1991, my journey began. Soon after, I had the incredible opportunity to be put up for adoption, leading me to the United States in 1992 when I was just ten months old. This experience of moving between cultures, of blending my Guatemalan roots with my American upbringing, has profoundly influenced my perspective, much like how many contemporary comic book creators are now striving to represent a wider array of diverse backgrounds and cultural narratives in their stories. It's about recognizing that every individual brings a unique blend to the tapestry of human experience. My early life in Guatemala, during its civil war, was certainly eventful. I even faced a significant challenge while at the orphanage, encountering a head injury that resulted in a cracked skull in three places. These moments, as dramatic as they sound, are not just footnotes; they are pivotal panels in my personal narrative, much like a hero's early trials in a comic book. They are part of what propelled me to start 'Into The Unknown Podcast' – a platform dedicated to exploring these incredible, often unseen, facets of people's lives. We're not just talking about fictional super-abilities; we're talking about the real-life superpowers of resilience, transformation, and discovery that emerge from personal journeys. The 'value of exploring the unknown' is truly at the heart of what we do. It’s about venturing beyond the surface, understanding the complexities and nuances that make each person’s story utterly compelling. Just as a comic book fan might delve into the lore of characters like City Boy DC Comics or follow the intricate plots of titles like Osora Chapter 99 or Tom Strong Compendium Two, my podcast invites listeners to immerse themselves in the rich, real-world 'lore' of individuals. These are not just interviews; they are explorations into the 'issues' of life, revealing the triumphs and tribulations that forge character. Think about the history of comic conventions – they are vibrant spaces where diverse stories and fan communities converge. In a way, 'Into The Unknown Podcast' aims to be a digital convention for real-life origin stories. We celebrate the unique paths people have taken, the 'battles' they’ve fought, and the wisdom they've gained. It’s a space where we can collectively appreciate how personal histories shape our present and offer profound insights into our future. Whether it's discussing the blending of cultures, overcoming adversity, or simply sharing a compelling personal anecdote, every story is an 'opportunity' to learn and connect. My hope is that by sharing these narratives, we can all find a bit of ourselves in the 'unknowns' of others, realizing that our own 'comic book' journey is just as extraordinary.
