as someone who uses herbs frequently, I don’t see these herbs in the spotlight often. each day I work on expanding my apothecary to be able to perform more complex spellwork for my clients and self! I have found these more complex herbs to be more than helpful in my practice!

Source for Magical Meanings comes from Rite of Ritual 👏🏼

Motherwort - Motherwort connects to the element water, which makes it great for moon work because the Moon holds sway over the rhythms of bodies of water on this planet. Also helps regulate menstrual cycles, which are often closely tied to the cycles of the Moon.

A member of the mint family, Motherwort is an herb native to Europe, but can now be found growing in nearly any temperate climate. Its botanical name is derived from the plant's visual similarity to a lion's tail as well as its association with the heart. Leon-Lion, ouros-Tail, Kardiaca-Heart. Its common name is inspired by its traditional use by the Greeks as an herb to calm the anxieties of pregnant women or new mothers. Due to its nature, however, this herb can be problematic when used prior to the late stages of pregnancy, as it is frequently used to induce menstruation in folks whose cycles are in some way delayed or inhibited- whether this is due to stress or other causes.

Motherwort has a relaxing effect on the smooth muscles, making it effective in alleviating menstrual cramps, for one. The heart is also composed primarily of smooth muscle, allowing motherwort to ease the strain on the heart that may be caused by tachycardia, heart palpitations, and heart disease

Magically, motherwort is used to increase confidence, vitality, optimism, and forgiveness. In some traditions, motherwort is used to specifically bless and protect one's family, especially when kept with family photos. Its protective nature and affinity for mothers make this an effective herb for the protection of pregnant women, women, and mothers. Sometimes used in counter-magic, motherwort can be used to deflect and protect oneself from any undesired magical working or effect. This is because of its thorns!

Rose of Jericho - The rose of jericho is a resurrection plant! The rose of jericho represents rebirth, this is because it can be away from water for up to 16 years and still come back to life when placed in water! Mine lives in a bowl of water, the water is used for many things in my home & practice!

the Rose of Jericho has been used in Witchcraft and Rituals to aid in areas of longevity, resurrection and re-birth, abundance and finances, love spells and good health. Not only is the plant itself and the process of opening it (or closing it) full of magical properties, but the water used to open it is rich in uses, often being called light water. It is never to be discarded and is valuable in so many ways.

Camphor -

If you have ever smelled camphor, you know its pungently green, intensely cooling scent is unforgettable. This waxy white crystal has found its way into magical traditions all over the world, and it is a good idea to keep some on hand whenever you need a quick, easy, effective way to cleanse a space, banish evil, or add some serious power to a spell.

Spiritually, camphor is very healing. It can give you a sense of liberation from your obligations. Camphor can also uplift the mood, especially to a higher, more spiritual vibration.

Camphor is especially useful for dispelling negativity, fear and cowardice. Associated with the warrior angels, Camphor can banish timidity and fearfulness. Camphor is useful when going into stressful situations or conflicts. Use when going into battle—whether it’s a physical fight or another kind of challenge competing against others.

Camphor is classically used for spiritual cleansing and purification. If intrusive energies or harmful entities are attaching to you, Camphor can eliminate such forces from your life and cleanse your aura.

These qualities combine to make Camphor very useful for protection as well. If you find yourself in a dangerous situation or in the midst of perilous travels, a few drops of Camphor oil on your clothes can create a protective shield around you.

Fenugreek - Fortuna’s favorite herb for finances! This makes it extremely powerful. Fenugreek seed is used to focus intention and attention. Other magical properties include protection and grounding. Some use 7 seeds in mop water to attract prosperity. Also, sprinkle it around a money drawing candle. Fenugreek Seed is associated with manifestation and abundance. It is believed to amplify the intentions and desires of those who work with it, helping to manifest goals.
