a poem I wrote based off of "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion 🫶

For all the times you lied to me,

For all the truth that I couldn't see,

For all the pain you brought to my life,

For all the wrong you said was right.

For every dream I lost to you,

For all the shame I found with you,

I'll always be regretful baby,

You're the one who held me down,

Made me feel so small,

You're the one who put me through, through it all.

You took my strength, you made me weak

You took my voice so I couldn't speak

I used my eyes but I couldn't see

You saw the worst there was in me

Putting me down 'til I couldn't reach

I lost my faith lost my beliefs

I'm everything I am

Because you left me

You took my wings that made me fly,

You dropped my hand and my spirit died.

I lost my mind when you said to me,

You said your love was out of reach.

You walked away and you took it all,

You took my love, you watched me fall.

I'm hateful from each day you gave me,

Maybe I don't know that much

But I know this much is true,

I was best before I was touched by you.

Through the truth you were the lie.

My heart is a bitter place because I tried.
