MIRROR WORK

SHADOW WORK: MIRROR WORK

PART 1 — WHAT IT DOES

Mirror work isn’t about positive thinking.

It’s about regulating the nervous system and restoring self-trust.

After emotional manipulation or victim playing, the brain goes outward:

• replaying conversations

• scanning for approval

• questioning identity

Looking yourself in the eyes brings attention back into the body.

Your brain responds to eye contact as presence, not memory.

That shift moves you out of rumination and into regulation.

WHY IT MATTERS

When you hold eye contact with yourself, your brain:

• recognizes safety

• slows emotional reactivity

• re-anchors your sense of reality

Mirror work interrupts the loop of:

What did they think?

and replaces it with:

What do I know?

That’s why it rebuilds self-trust after experiences where reality felt flipped.

You’re not asking the mirror to fix anything.

You’re reminding yourself of who’s present.

Healing is around the corner — just keep walking 💜🙏🏻
