PEACE IS A DECISION
The Door Is Open
There was a time
I thought I had to gear up
and battle every storm.
If it was loud,
I met it louder.
If it was cold,
I armored up.
I believed strength meant stepping outside
and proving I could survive it.
And I did.
I weathered storms.
More than one.
More than I ever thought I would.
But somewhere along the way
I learned something quieter.
Not every storm requires you
to step into it.
You can stand at the edge of it.
Look outside.
Feel the wind.
And choose.
You can stay grounded.
You can remain inside your peace.
Or — if you do step out —
you do it knowing
you are prepared.
You have the equipment.
You have the wisdom.
Life isn’t about battling.
It’s about integration.
Doing the shadow work.
Knowing yourself well enough
to respond instead of react.
Sometimes the lesson is endurance.
Sometimes the lesson is restraint.
Sometimes the lesson is simply remembering:
This too shall pass.
You don’t bypass the storm out of fear.
You bypass it because you understand the season.
Strength isn’t proving you can survive the storm.
It’s knowing when you don’t have to step into it.
The door is open.
Healing is around the corner — just keep walking 💜🙏🏻

In my own journey, I've found that peace truly is a decision—one that requires mindfulness and courage. Early in life, I too believed that strength meant confronting every challenge head-on, gearing up for battle in any storm. But over time, I learned that not every upheaval demands a heavy-handed response. Sometimes, standing at the edge, observing calmly, and choosing to remain grounded within your peace can be the most powerful acts. The phrase from the image, "I Am Home. I Am Safe," resonates deeply with this idea. Creating a metaphorical 'home' inside ourselves—a safe inner space—acts as the foundation for peace. When life gets loud or cold, this inner refuge allows us to respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively. Practicing what some call 'shadow work,' I began to understand my fears and limitations better. This awareness helped me to discern when endurance is needed and when restraint is wiser. The wisdom isn't in battling every external storm but in understanding the seasons of life and choosing engagement or detachment accordingly. What this article subtly teaches is that strength isn’t only in surviving the storm but in recognizing when it’s okay not to enter it at all. This insight has transformed how I approach stress and conflict. It’s empowered me to live with less anxiety and more clarity. For anyone feeling overwhelmed, I encourage you to remember: healing is around the corner. Keep walking, keep choosing peace, and trust that by opening the door to calm and self-awareness, you invite growth and resilience into your life.
