Tour my 2026 Book Journal

Inside my 2026 Book Journal 📝

This is my second year with a book journal that I made myself. I love the idea of tracking my reading progress but could not find a book that had all the pieces I wanted and would actually complete.

So, a work in progress but this is what this year’s looks like!

Follow along as I complete it with new and exciting reads this year!

💬 How are you tracking your progress?

... Read moreBuilding your own book journal for 2026, especially when you can't find one that perfectly fits your style, is such a rewarding experience! I totally get it – sometimes those pre-made journals just don't have all the sections you dream of. If you're looking for more ways to personalize your reading journey, here are some ideas and tips I’ve picked up along the way that might spark your creativity for your own custom 2026 Reading Journal. First off, why even start a book journal? For me, it's about more than just remembering what I read. It’s a dedicated space to reflect on stories, track my growth as a reader, and even discover new patterns in my reading habits. It helps me stay motivated, especially with my #yearlyreadinggoals, and makes my reading experience feel more intentional. When you're brainstorming what to include, think about what truly matters to your reading life. Beyond the basic title and author, I find these sections incredibly useful: Yearly Reading Goals & Challenges: Like the '100 Booked Challenge' or a 'Days of Reading' calendar. These visual trackers are so motivating! Seeing my progress fill up those little book icons or calendar squares keeps me going. You could also try a 'Book of the Month' section to highlight your top read for each month. Detailed Review Pages: Don’t just list the book; truly engage with it! My journal includes prompts for 'Reading Format,' 'Stars' rating, 'Series' info, 'Genre,' 'Would Recommend?', and 'Liked the Ending?'. Adding a small space for favorite quotes or key takeaways makes the entry even richer. Fun Challenge Trackers: Things like a 'Challenge Book BINGO' grid or a 'Challenge Alphabet' list (reading books by title initial) add a playful element. I also love my 'Challenge Genres' section, where I can track how many Historical Fiction, Memoir, Young Adult, or Mystery books I'm reading and see if I'm branching out enough. You can even add little star ratings next to each genre entry! The "Did Not Finish" (DNF) List: This might sound counterintuitive, but having a designated 'DNF Book List' is liberating. It allows you to acknowledge books you've started but won't finish without feeling guilty about leaving them off your 'read' list. Plus, it's interesting to look back and see why certain books didn't click. Reading Stats: Beyond just titles, I love tracking my 'Number of Pages Read in 2026' and '2026 Hours of Listening' (especially with those cute headphone icons!). It helps me understand my reading pace and how much time I'm dedicating to audiobooks. To truly make your journal unique, don't shy away from using various journaling supplies. I love using pens in different colors, highlighters to mark favorite passages, and sticky notes for temporary thoughts. If you have a portable printer, like a Canon Ivy, you can easily print out miniature book covers or photos related to your reads to stick directly onto your pages. This adds a fantastic visual element and makes each entry pop! Think about adding Washi tape, stickers, or even drawing small doodles to personalize your spreads. Keeping up with a book journal might seem like a commitment, but I find that making it a ritual (like journaling right after finishing a book, or once a week) helps a lot. And remember, it's your journal – there's no right or wrong way to do it. The goal is to create something that inspires you to read more and remember your literary adventures fondly. Happy journaling for 2026!
