April Reading Wrap-Up: A Steady Reading Month

April was a steady reading month for me—9 books total with one standout 5-star read and a lot of solid 3-star reads (which honestly still means I enjoyed my time).

I made my way through 4 out of the 6 books on my March TBR, and I’m still waiting on the other two through Libby… but the wait gave me room for a few unexpected reads that I’m glad I picked up.

Now heading into May, I’ve already started two non-fiction books and I’m really looking forward to a month that challenges my thinking while still giving me that sense of comfort and escape I love from reading.

What was your best read in April?

5/2 Edited to

... Read moreApril turned out to be a surprisingly balanced month for my reading journey. While I originally planned to focus mostly on my March TBR, the wait for two books on Libby opened a window for me to dive into some unexpected titles, which added a refreshing variety to my list. For anyone juggling TBR lists and library holds, this experience highlights how flexibility can lead to delightful literary surprises. Among the books I read, one earned a standout 5-star rating, making April not just steady but memorable. Though many of the other reads landed around 3 stars, I still valued the break and enjoyment each book provided, underscoring that not every read needs to be a favorite to be meaningful. This reminds me that reading should offer comfort, exploration, or challenge in differing measures, depending on the moment. Looking ahead to May, I'm shifting gears into non-fiction, eager to challenge my thinking and expand my worldview. This blend of nonfiction with my usual fiction comfort reads offers a perfect balance boosting both knowledge and relaxation. I find this balance important because it satisfies different reading cravings and keeps my motivation high month after month. From the OCR content, it’s clear others are also exploring popular contemporary titles, including romance and thriller genres like works by Katherine Center or Elsie Silver. Following current trends and bestsellers can be a great way to discover what others are enjoying, and sometimes joining conversations around these popular reads can enhance the reading experience through shared insights. Finally, sharing your favorite read of the month, whether it's a breakout star or a quietly enjoyed story, creates a sense of community and inspiration. It encourages us to visit genres outside our comfort zone and turn page turns into conversations. What was your best read in April?
