Frosted Cookies Wax Melts & Mold Making Tips!
So these wax melts turned out pretty well for them being a first try for me. But I just didn’t fully like how the “frosting” turned out! Thankfully I know what to do next time in terms of piping the “frosting” on.
I did make the mold for the cookie part myself though! I bought a silicone kit off Amazon by Let’s resin and got a package of the frosted sugar cookies from Walmart and scraped the frosting off!
After that I prepped a baking pan for my silicone. (quick tip, don’t buy disposable pans, and save your cereal boxes! You’re about to see why!)
To prep my pan I used double sided tape, old cereal boxes (I save cereal and food boxes when we are done with them to use for projects like these, testing paint colors, and other craft uses), scissors, and a pencil. Later you’ll need a hot glue you know who and glue sticks!
First I place my pan face up on my cereal box (I do cut them down on the folds of the box so this was a piece of a box. And make sure that the colorful side of the box is on your table or work surface!). Then trace the bottom of the pan shape onto the cereal box. Get as close as possible to the pan!
After the tracing is done, I cut out the shape and use the double sided tape to secure the cereal box inside the pan. Make sure again that the colorful side is face down!
Once secured you can take your hot glue you know who and glue down all of the cookies down. Make sure the cookies are close together but not too close! About 3/4 of an inch or so should be enough since these are bigger cookies. For smaller cookies 1/2 and inch or slightly less works too.
Once all the cookies are glued down you can mix up the silicone and go! My silicone is done by weight not volume so if yours does the same then make sure you have an accurate scale that works well!
