Music is food for the soul✨
✨ In Our Home, We’re Intentional About Media ✨
I’m super careful about the kind of music my kids grow up listening to. In today’s world, so much mainstream media pushes messages, themes, and lifestyles that just don’t align with what we teach in our home.
So we stick to music that’s wholesome, uplifting, and supports the values we’re raising our children with — nothing that confuses them, oversexualizes childhood, or goes against our family standards.
It’s not about judging anyone… it’s about protecting the hearts and minds I’m responsible for. 💛
Do you filter the media your kids take in?
Or do you let them decide for themselves? 👇🫶🎶

In today’s media landscape, it is more important than ever for parents to be discerning about the music their children listen to. Music is indeed food for the soul, influencing emotions, values, and even behavior. Many mainstream songs often contain themes that may not be suitable for young minds, including oversexualization or messages that conflict with family principles. Choosing wholesome music means looking for songs with positive, encouraging lyrics and uplifting melodies that support emotional well-being and personal growth. Genres such as children's music, family-friendly pop, gospel, or gentle acoustic tunes often provide a safe soundtrack for kids. Parenting communities and online platforms can be valuable resources to discover vetted playlists and artists who emphasize meaningful and age-appropriate content. Moreover, filtering media is not about judging others but about protecting the sensitive hearts and minds of children during their formative years. This intentional approach allows parents to model values and create an environment where sound and spirit are nurtured harmoniously. Engaging children in discussions about music encourages them to think critically about what they consume. Over time, this helps them develop their own taste based on values aligned with respect, kindness, and positivity. It also prepares them to make healthier media choices independently as they grow older. Ultimately, intentional media consumption is a nurturing practice. It helps in raising emotionally intelligent and confident children by allowing music to be a source of joy, inspiration, and comfort—a true food for the soul.
