Isn’t it ironic?

🚨 CAT TAX IS DUE. 🚨

It’s $2 Tuesday and it’s the beginning of August, which means your monthly Cat Tax is officially due. Please direct any complaints to Irony.

Irony finds it deeply ironic that humans expect things like electricity, litter, laundry detergent, trash pickup, cleaning supplies, internet, insurance, and all the other boring behind-the-scenes expenses to magically pay for themselves.

Spoiler alert: They don’t.

While everyone notices the cute kittens, Cat Tax helps keep the shelter running when the cameras are off. It keeps the lights on, the laundry going, the litter boxes clean, the floors mopped, and makes sure there’s always a safe place waiting for every cat who comes through our doors.

No donation is too small. Even $2 helps keep this place running for the cats who call it home.

... Read moreAs someone who has volunteered at animal shelters, I’ve seen firsthand how important every small donation is to keeping these sanctuaries functional and welcoming. The concept of a 'Cat Tax' might sound humorous, but it serves a vital purpose beyond just a catchy phrase. Monthly contributions, even as modest as $2, help cover the ongoing operational costs that many don’t see—the electricity that powers heating lamps and lights, laundry detergent to clean bedding and towels, litter to keep the cat spaces hygienic, and cleaning supplies to maintain a healthy environment. Supporting a shelter is not just about saving one cat at a time; it’s about sustaining a community resource that cares for dozens or even hundreds of animals until they find forever homes. When donations are consistent, shelters can plan and budget properly, ensuring they have enough supplies and staff to give the cats quality care. If you’ve ever adopted a pet from a shelter, think of the Cat Tax as a way to pay it forward. Contributing through Venmo (@TheCatteryCo), Cash App ($TheCatteryCC), or PayPal (THECATTERYCC@aol.com) is simple and secure, making it easy to chip in regularly. After donating, leaving a comment like “Ironically Paid” not only spreads the word but also builds a supportive community around the cause. During my visits, I noticed how much cats respond positively to a clean space and consistent care, which these donations directly support. Even when no one is looking, the shelter staff is busy cleaning, doing laundry, and restocking essentials. So, the next time you see the Cat Tax reminder, remember that your contribution helps keep the lights on and the kittens playful and safe. Getting involved by sharing posts, encouraging friends to participate, or volunteering time benefits the shelter beyond just financial help. Together, with steady support and awareness, we can ensure these cats continue to receive the care and love they deserve.
