PADDLE BOARDING is now going to require a PERMIT. REALLY think about that. If you want to grab your kids and burn off some energy in a river, where you aren’t burning fuel or using any state infrastructure other than PUBLIC WATER, you will need a permit.
Why does this program need to be funded by Americans who want to just enjoy the outdoors? We should be doing everything in our power to LOWER the barrier of entry to get people outside, not adding bureaucracy to water activities
As someone who enjoys taking my kids out on paddle boards during warm weekends, I can relate to the frustration about needing a permit to use public waterways. Paddle boarding is a low-impact, fuel-free way to enjoy nature and exercise, often in local rivers and lakes that we consider community resources. Requiring permits seems to add an unnecessary bureaucratic layer that could discourage families from spending time outdoors. From my experience, outdoor activities like paddle boarding help kids burn off energy and connect with the environment without the need for costly infrastructure or fuel emissions. Imposing permits may limit spontaneous trips to the river and reduce opportunities for people to embrace healthy lifestyles. While managing invasive species and funding conservation are important, I believe there must be a balanced approach that lowers barriers rather than increasing them. Perhaps alternatives like education programs or voluntary registration could achieve environmental goals without the headache of permits. Ultimately, making outdoor water activities more accessible encourages community health, wellbeing, and appreciation for public natural resources. I hope policymakers reconsider how to protect waterways without impeding the simple joy of paddling with family and friends.

Thank GOD I live in Missouri🐻
