Mental illness is taxing ❤️

I apologize for how long these posts are ❤️

One of my main diagnosis is Borderline Personality Disorder. With this condition hallucinations are quite common. Mine are actually very minimal right now due to medication. I still get some hallucinations, including tactile, audible, smell, taste, and visual. They are minimal and don’t feel dangerous right now. But in the past it was very alarming, scary and felt dangerous towards myself. I happened to draw a few hallucinations a few years ago. They were not this solid in form but I took creative liberty.

I have been receiving medical care for my mental illness for a very long time. My care team had me file for disability due to its severity. After 4 years with my current Psych N.P. I felt I kept getting better than worse back and forth. She described to me that my mind and body had been masking the severity from the world and myself for so long that the new issues coming forth have been there for a very long time. My body just feels safe enough to let it out. This was almost relieving. It was affirming.

... Read moreMental illness can be challenging and isolating, affecting individuals in various ways. Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is characterized by intense emotional experiences, instability in relationships, and difficulties in self-image. Hallucinations are not a common symptom of BPD for everyone, but for those who experience them, it can add to the complexities of their condition. Treatment for BPD often includes therapy, particularly Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which focuses on developing coping skills and emotional regulation. Medication may also be prescribed to address specific symptoms, making daily life more manageable. It's important to understand that recovery is not linear. Many individuals experience periods of improvement, followed by setbacks. This can be confusing but is a normal part of the healing process. Sharing experiences, whether through online forums or support groups, helps foster a sense of community and understanding. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, seeking professional help is crucial. You're not alone; there are many others who understand what you're going through. Resources are available, and it's essential to reach out for support when needed.
