The messy side of growth as a content creator
Let’s be real… most people aren’t struggling because they’re “bad at content.”
They’re struggling because nobody actually explained how content works.
Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube don’t care about:
* how pretty your post is
* how long it took you to edit
* how many hashtags you used
They care about ONE thing: attention.
If people stop scrolling, watch, and engage… your content gets pushed.
If they don’t… it dies quietly in the feed 😭
That’s why hooks matter so much.
Not trends. Not luck. Not guessing.
Just understanding what actually holds attention long enough for your content to be seen.
This is what changes everything.
From my experience growing as a content creator, I can attest that focusing solely on how your posts look or the time spent editing won’t guarantee success. Early on, I was caught up in making everything visually perfect, using the 'right' hashtags, and chasing trends without truly understanding what drives engagement. What changed everything for me was shifting focus to crafting compelling hooks that stop the scroll. Hooks are the initial few seconds or lines of your content that grab attention and make people curious enough to stay and engage. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram often reward content that holds viewers' attention, boosting reach organically. It’s not about luck or endless guessing; it’s about learning what resonates with your audience and how to deliver it efficiently. Additionally, I realized that platforms don’t prioritize content by how much effort goes into editing or aesthetics. Even simple, raw videos with strong storytelling or a clear hook can outperform polished ones. Engaging content sparks comments, shares, and saves, which signal the algorithm to push your post further. So, instead of stressing over perfect visuals, focus on refining your message. Test different hooks, analyze what keeps your audience watching, and tailor your strategy based on real engagement data. This approach will make your content growth less messy and far more strategic. Remember, growth as a content creator is a learning process — mastering attention capture is your game changer.
