When you respond with kindness and forgiveness instead of anger or retaliation, it can disturb their usual expectations and thought patterns. This disruption can lead to self-reflection, confusion, or even guilt, as they confront the unexpected response of grace rather than resentment. This concept is explored in Episode 180 of "theconversation98," titled "Never Feel Bad About Doing Right To Others, But There's Nothing Wrong With Cutting Them Off." The episode emphasizes that while extending grace is morally commendable, it does not mean you must tolerate ongoing harmful behavior. Grace is about choosing to respond ethically without allowing yourself to be repeatedly hurt or disrespected. Balancing grace with personal boundaries is essential. It is healthy and necessary to cut ties or limit interactions with individuals who continue to cause harm, even if you forgive them. This approach protects your mental and emotional wellbeing while demonstrating strength and self-respect. Understanding this dynamic promotes emotional intelligence and resilience. It encourages people not to feel guilty about doing the right thing—even when that involves distancing from toxic relationships. Showing grace disrupts the negative cycle, asserting that kindness is a form of strength, not weakness, and that protecting yourself is equally important as forgiving others. In essence, grace has a transformative power—not just for the one who wronged you, but for yourself. It allows you to rise above negativity, maintain your integrity, and foster healthier interactions in your life.

So true, when I invited my older children's father to dinner with the children he declined but came to the restaurant after we finished eating. I paid for him and his wife meal without him knowing . The shocking part was returning our son back to him and he actually thanked me for the meal.
