Sanctuary Sunday: A Gentle Reset for Your Heart

I used to feel guilty when I rested-- like I hadn't earned it.

Now I'm learning: rest isn't something we earn. It's something we need.

On Sundays, I try to pause. To make space to choose peace over pressure.

Here's how I reset:

🕯 Light something soft (a candle, incense, or string lights)

📖 Write 3 things I'm grateful for

🌿 Let myself do nothing for at least 20 minutes

💤 Give myself permission to try again tomorrow

You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to soften.

Most importantly, giving yourself permission to start fresh each day replaces self-criticism with compassion. This healing routine nurtures self-soothing and reinforces that rest is a right, not a reward. It encourages valuing softness and recognizing rest as necessary for creativity, emotional resilience, and overall health.
