... Read moreI recently tried making this Cabbage Chicken Alfredo and was amazed at how satisfying and flavorful it was, especially since it skips the traditional pasta. Using cabbage as a base not only adds a subtle sweetness and crunch but also makes this dish a great low-carb alternative perfect for anyone watching their carb intake. The smoky sausage complements the seasoned chicken beautifully, giving each bite a depth of flavor that's truly comforting. One tip I found helpful was to cook the cabbage just until tender — overcooking can make it mushy, which affects the dish's texture. Cooking the onion and garlic before adding the cabbage really helps to build a richer flavor base. The homemade Alfredo sauce, made creamy with heavy cream and cream cheese, thickens perfectly when combined with the Parmesan and mozzarella. I recommend using fresh grated Parmesan for the best melting and flavor. Adding Italian seasoning, paprika, and garlic and onion powders enhances the overall balance of the dish, making it taste complex yet comforting. Since the recipe uses chicken broth, it keeps the cabbage moist while infusing a savory note, so be sure not to skip this step. For extra creaminess, you can stir in a little more cream cheese depending on your preference. This recipe reheats well too, making it excellent for meal prep. Overall, this Cabbage Chicken Alfredo offers a delightful twist on classic Alfredo dishes—and it’s wonderful how easy it is to prepare with everyday ingredients. It’s a perfect weeknight dinner for families or anyone wanting a satisfying, creamy meal without pasta.
