Let’s get personal
There’s something I’ve been internally battling for early 10 years. Something most of closest friends don’t even know. But tonight I want to share it with…everyone? Maybe it’ll reach the right person.
It’s crazy how little comments throughout life can stick with you forever. People are mean, especially when we were young, and comments about my weight and body were the ones that stuck with me. Still do.
As you know, I have a daughter :) This is where my struggle got even harder. I never wanted pictures taken of me and I hated to even look at myself in the mirror pregnant. All I could think about was how much weight I had gained and how I was going to lose it.
I can tell you how- a very dangerous way. A way that I had clinged to. If I ever even thought I looked wrong in one area. I’d skip a meal, or two, or three. It got me to where I wanted to be. But I was never truly happy with myself, never felt good. Especially when people would mention that something was up.
Fast forward to now. This past year I started running. I would run here and there just to get out of the house with Stevie (until I decided I wanted to be given medals-now it’s training). Never in a million years did I think I’d look at muscle I’ve gained and craved more. All I wanted in the past was to just look skinny, not healthy or toned. Just skinny. For reference my goal weight in high school (at 18) was nothing above 115. After pregnancy nothing above 125. Now I am 140 and loving myself 🥰
I am overjoyed with myself and my motivation to be healthy and look healthy. It’s not just about my weight or my jean size. I’ve become a fitness instructor for moms and I LOVE it. I love making people feel good about themselves as well as motivating others to want to work for a healthy lifestyle.
All of this is basically just me rambling on about the new leaf I turned but, I’m proud of myself. If you related to this and want to chat I’m here for you🤍 every body is beautiful and our bodies can do amazing things!! Let’s be kind to them. Thank you for reading and hopefully you’ll stay along for the ride to half marathon in march 🍀👟

Navigating body image issues can be a challenging journey for many. Often, lingering comments from childhood impact our self-esteem and perception of beauty. Many women experience a similar struggle, particularly during and after pregnancy, leading to unhealthy habits in pursuit of an ideal weight. It’s important to emphasize that a healthy lifestyle encompasses more than just weight loss; it’s about nurturing our bodies and fostering a positive self-image. For those dealing with body image issues, starting a fitness journey can be empowering. Activities like running or strength training not only help in physical fitness but also boost mental well-being. Community support plays a vital role in such transitions. Joining fitness classes, especially tailored for moms, can offer a sense of belonging and encouragement. It’s a space where shared experiences and motivations create bonds, inspiring others to adopt a healthier lifestyle together. Additionally, shifting the focus from restrictive dieting to a balanced approach can mitigate negative body image issues. By embracing our bodies' capacities and celebrating small victories, we cultivate a healthier relationship with ourselves. Remember, every body is unique and beautiful in its way, and kindness towards yourself is the key to happiness. Let’s support each other in our wellness journeys and appreciate our bodies for all they can achieve.
