We learned a few things. She was probably injured and by her reaction to seeing our dog, I can guess what happened. Her leg was infected which wasn’t surprising. I can’t think about what would have happened if we left her. They took out her whole shoulder blade and she was already walking with her front leg positioned into a tripod stance when we picked her up. The surgeon explained that she’ll almost certainly get arthritis in the good shoulder, so it’s imperative that we keep her at a healthy weight to prevent more issues in the future. Night one was a lot but the next day was much better, more of a learning experience. She’ll have the staples in until the 17th so until then we’re going to do lots of scent swapping so we’re on our way to introductions. She’s still so happy and sweet!🧡☘️🐱 #cat #orangecat #catdistributionsystem #straycat #orangecatbehavior

... Read moreHaving cared for a tripod cat like Clover myself, I can say the experience is both challenging and rewarding. When a cat loses a limb or part of a limb, they quickly adapt their movement, often developing unique gaits like the tripod stance Clover shows. To support such a cat, it’s crucial to create an environment that encourages safe exploration without strain. Weight management plays a vital role in extending the quality of life for tripod cats. Extra weight puts stress on their remaining limbs and joints, increasing the risk of arthritis, especially after major surgeries like shoulder blade removal. In my experience, a balanced diet combined with gentle play helps maintain their ideal weight and provides mental stimulation. Post-surgery care can be daunting at first—the presence of staples, pain management, and monitoring for infections require vigilance. However, using techniques like scent swapping can ease the transition when introducing the new cat to existing pets, reducing stress for all involved. Patience and observation are key, as every cat’s adjustment period varies. Clover’s positive spirit and sweetness despite her challenges is inspiring. It reminds me how resilient cats can be when given loving care and attentive support. Being proactive about arthritis prevention by maintaining a healthy weight and ensuring regular vet check-ups can greatly improve their mobility and happiness over time. For anyone caring for a tripod cat or considering adopting one, remember the importance of an enriching environment and routine medical attention. These steps help your cat thrive and enjoy a fulfilling life, even with physical limitations.

6 Laundry Rules I Learned the Hard Way 🧺
I’ll never forget the day I ruined my favorite beige knit set. I threw it in with a load of towels, used hot water, and added way too much detergent because I thought it would make everything “extra clean.” When I pulled it out, it was stiff, pilled, and two sizes smaller. I genuinely sat there sta
