It's huge and plush, and I can already imagine it draped over our couch, bringing in that summery vibe. However, the biggest shock of my haul came with a seemingly innocent coffee mug. It was cute, blue, and I pictured myself enjoying my morning brew from it. But then I saw the warning label, the kind that says it can expose you to chemicals, including lead, known to the State of California to cause cancer. I mean, seriously? How is it legal to sell dishware that can expose you to lead or cause cancer? It made me question everything. I was so sad because it would have looked perfect with my new blanket. This experience really made me think about the hidden dangers in everyday home items. If you're also trying to introduce colour into your home without getting overwhelmed, start small! Think about throw pillows, a vibrant piece of art, or even a colorful plant pot. Don't feel pressured to repaint everything. For those of us worried about toxic items, especially after seeing warnings like mine, it's worth doing a quick search before buying. Look for brands that explicitly state they are lead-free or made with non-toxic materials. Ceramic and glass are generally safer bets, but even then, check for glazes. And for shopping at places like Marshalls or TJ Maxx, it’s all about the hunt! Go in with an open mind, look for unique pieces, and always check those tags – especially for any alarming health warnings. It’s a yay for the blanket, but a definite nay for the toxic mug.
