Pumpkin patch

Oh my goodness, fall is officially in full swing, and you know what that means – pumpkin patch season! This year, we decided to make a special trip to Eckert's Farm, and it was everything I dreamed of and more. If you're anything like me and adore all things autumn, then you absolutely have to add this to your fall bucket list. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere at Eckert's Farm was just buzzing with excitement. There’s something so nostalgic about stepping onto a farm property, with the smell of crisp air, hay, and a hint of apple cider in the distance. We started our adventure with a classic hayride, which took us deep into the pumpkin fields. It was such a joy seeing all the different shapes and sizes of pumpkins scattered across the patch. My little ones (my 'pumpkins' as I like to call them!) had the best time running around, searching for their perfect pumpkin. It wasn't just about finding the biggest one; it was about finding one with character, a unique stem, or just one that 'spoke' to them! What I loved most about Eckert's Farm, especially this season, was how much there was to do beyond just pumpkin picking. We saw families enjoying corn mazes, and there were even some apple orchards still open for u-pick. It truly makes for a full day of family fun. If you're planning your own visit, here are a few tips based on my experience: Go Early: We arrived shortly after opening, and it was perfect. The crowds were lighter, and we had more space to explore freely. Plus, the morning light is just beautiful for photos! Wear Layers & Comfy Shoes: It can get a bit chilly in the morning, but as the day goes on, you might warm up. And trust me, you'll be doing a lot of walking in uneven fields, so good shoes are a must. Bring a Wagon or Stroller: If you have small children or plan on picking a lot of pumpkins, a wagon for hauling your treasures (and tired kiddos!) is a lifesaver. Check Their Website: Before you head out, always check Eckert's Farm's website for their operating hours, specific activities available that day, and any special events. They often have seasonal offerings that you won't want to miss. Capturing all these moments was so important to me. I was practically making a 'mini vlog' in my head as we went along, trying to remember every detail for sharing later. The vibrant colors of the pumpkins against the changing leaves make for the most beautiful backdrop. If you're ever looking for an incredible fall experience and happen to be traveling to Belleville or are in the surrounding area, I cannot recommend Eckert's Farm enough. It’s truly a wholesome, joyful, and quintessential fall outing that creates memories you’ll cherish for years to come. We left with our car full of pumpkins and our hearts full of happiness!
