The “Obvious” Choice Most People Don’t Make

Something I notice in Scripture is a constant pattern of clarity through contrast: good and evil, life and death, blessing and curse. In Deuteronomy, Moses writes, “I set before you life and death… choose life.”

It sounds obvious—like, no duh.

But it’s only obvious until you watch how often we don’t choose life in our daily decisions.

I think it can be translated into everyday language:

Energy or entropy—choose energy.

Momentum or inertia—choose momentum.

Weakness or strength—choose strength.

Wisdom isn’t knowing what’s right.

It’s choosing it consistently.

What lesson has shaped you the most? 🧡

... Read moreReflecting on the message "choose life" from Deuteronomy and its modern application, I've realized that this choice goes far beyond biblical text—it deeply influences our everyday mindset and actions. The law of polarity mentioned in the Scriptures highlights how life is full of opposing forces: good and evil, blessing and curse, strength and weakness. While these contrasts seem obvious, the constant challenge is consistently choosing the path that leads to growth and vitality. Recently, I noticed how easy it is to fall into inertia and entropy, as the article points out, instead of actively choosing energy and momentum. This resonates with many personal experiences, where I recognized moments of weakness and passivity in my decisions and how they held me back from progress. Shifting to a mindset that consciously picks strength and momentum requires daily practice and awareness—it’s not enough to know what’s right; we have to choose it again and again. The reminder that wisdom is not merely knowing but consistently choosing right decisions made me rethink how I approach challenges. Whether facing stress, difficult relationships, or personal goals, the "obvious" choice to choose life means embracing positivity, resilience, and faith despite obstacles. It's about infusing our daily habits with intention and purpose, aligning with biblical wisdom of making deliberate choices that propel us toward blessing rather than curse. This perspective inspired me to integrate small but meaningful rituals into my routine, such as mindful morning reflections and gratitude practices, to anchor myself in energy rather than entropy. I’ve also found community and shared reflections under hashtags like #chooseLife and #faithandgrowth encouraging, reinforcing that this choice is a collective journey. Ultimately, embracing the contrast between life and death, momentum and inertia, weakness and strength reminds us that each moment offers a choice. Choosing life is choosing to cultivate strength, wisdom, and faith in steady, committed ways. This ongoing decision shapes not only our own growth but also the impact we have on others. What lessons around choosing life or strength have you found most transformative in your own journey?
