Inexpensive Weekend Buys

Went to Milledgeville, GA with my husband this past weekend and decided to hit up the local Goodwill and Ollies.

From Ollies I purchased both books by author N.K Jemisin for $4.99 and the Goodwill purchases I got most books for $1.99, $.99, and $.49 cents.

Black Friend Essays by Ziwe I purchased on Amazing for $2.88 💕💕💕💕

I had a great weekend 💪🏾

... Read moreOh my goodness, you guys! My weekend trip to Milledgeville, GA, was such a success, especially for my bookworm heart! Beyond just picking up a few titles, it was truly an adventure in thrifty shopping. If you're ever in the Milledgeville area, you absolutely have to check out Ollies. It's not just a discount store; it's a treasure hunt! I swear, every time I go, I find something incredible. This trip, my jaw dropped when I spotted both 'The World We Make' and 'The City We Became' by N.K. Jemisin for just $4.99 each. That's practically unheard of for such popular, high-quality sci-fi! But the book magic didn't stop there. My husband and I also popped into the local Goodwill, which, let's be honest, is always a gamble, but sometimes it pays off big time! I managed to snag several books for shockingly low prices – $1.99, $0.99, and even $0.49 cents! It’s such a thrill to find a great read for less than the cost of a coffee. Among my Goodwill finds were 'They Both Die at the End,' which I've been meaning to read, and a few other intriguing titles like 'The Layover' and 'Earth to Charlie.' It really goes to show that you don't need to spend a fortune to build an amazing personal library. One of my absolute favorite finds this trip was 'Black Friend Essays' by Ziwe, which I actually snagged online for about $2.88 – another fantastic deal! When I got home, I laid out all my new treasures on a floral patterned blanket for a celebratory photo. Seeing 'Monster in the Middle' and 'Lucky Caller' among my stack just made me so happy. It’s not just about the savings; it's the joy of discovery and giving these books a second life. For anyone looking to replicate this kind of thrifty book-hunting success, here are a few tips I've learned: Visit regularly: Stock changes constantly at places like Ollies and Goodwill, so frequent visits increase your chances of finding gems. Know what you're looking for: While it's fun to browse, having a mental list of authors or genres you enjoy can help you focus. Check book condition: Always flip through the pages. Sometimes a good price isn't worth water damage or missing pages. Don't forget local bookstores: While not discount, sometimes they have sale sections that rival thrift store prices. Expand your search: Don't just stick to one store. Milledgeville has a few hidden spots if you look! Overall, this weekend was a reminder that some of the best experiences (and book hauls!) don't have to break the bank. Happy thrifting, fellow book lovers!
