Chronic Illness Warrior 🫀

Reflecting on where I was this time last year and everything else that transpired in 2023:

6 Surgeries

2 Heart Procedures

2 Ports/PICC lines

1 Port Infection

1 Bloodstream Infection

1 Sickle Cell Crisis

Countless doctor’s appointments, ER visits, home health visits, hospital admissions, and infusions.

2023 stretched me beyond capacity. It increased my faith and trust in God when things around me seemed to be falling apart. I was hit with health challenges from all angles. Territory that is all too familiar to me because when you have multiple chronic illnesses - it impacts you for a lifetime.

With every setback, I reminded myself that God is carrying me through.

That my prayer warrior Mommy is by my side every step of the way.

That my family and tribe of sisters are there to lean on, uplift me, and pray for me.

That this is a season that I will overcome.

That the comeback will be better than I imagine.

I am so proud of you, Miss Girl ❤️

... Read moreLiving with chronic illnesses can be an overwhelming experience, often leading to a series of medical procedures and emotional challenges. In 2023, many individuals like our Chronic Illness Warrior faced significant struggles, including multiple surgeries, heart procedures, and persistent infections. Awareness of chronic illnesses is vital in fostering understanding and support. With conditions such as Sickle Cell Disease and congenital heart defects becoming more recognized, communities are growing stronger, providing platforms for sharing experiences and resources. Empathy plays a crucial role in how society responds to those battling these illnesses. Engaging in discussions about invisible illnesses can break down the stigma often associated with them. It’s essential to acknowledge not only the physical but also the emotional toll chronic health issues impose on individuals and their families. Support networks, including family, friends, and online communities, offer critical encouragement and strength. They remind warriors that they are not alone. Sharing stories and recovery journeys can provide hope and inspiration to others facing similar battles. As we continue to raise awareness about chronic illnesses and advocate for better healthcare, we also highlight the importance of mental health in the healing process. Mental resilience, often bolstered by faith and community support, is just as vital as physical recovery. Together, we can create a supportive environment for all warriors, ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive despite their challenges.
