However, while staying informed is important, I have found that dedicating time to reading and reflecting on scripture offers a profound source of peace and clarity that news alone cannot provide. When faced with reports of wickedness and corruption, it can feel overwhelming and disheartening. What helped me personally was setting aside moments each day to engage deeply with the Bible, focusing on passages that remind me of God's sovereignty and unwavering love. Verses like Psalm 46:1, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble," grounded me in hope rather than despair. This balance between awareness of worldly issues and spiritual nourishment is crucial. It doesn't mean ignoring reality but rather choosing to respond with faith and intentionality. In times when negative news attempts to shake our spirit, scripture can be a powerful anchor, reminding us that despite darkness, God is still on the throne, guiding and sustaining us. I encourage anyone feeling burdened by disturbing news to try this approach: limit exposure to distressing content that can fuel anxiety, and instead invest that energy into spiritual reading and reflection. Not only does this practice cultivate inner peace, but it also equips you to act with wisdom and compassion in the world. Ultimately, it’s a reminder that while we cannot control every event, we can control where we place our trust and how we nurture our hearts during turbulent times.
