Read moreReflecting on the message "You weren’t too loud… too emotional… too strong… You were carrying what they couldn’t understand," I find this resonates deeply with many Black women on their healing journey. In my personal experience, it’s common to feel misunderstood, especially when expressing emotions or showcasing strength that others might not relate to or value. This sense of being "too much" isn’t a flaw but a sign of carrying unseen burdens. Healing begins with self-affirmation and recognizing the power in your voice and emotions. Practices like manifestation and daily affirmations can help transform negative self-talk into empowering beliefs. For example, repeating statements such as "I am enough," "My emotions are valid," and "I choose my path" can reinforce healing and self-acceptance. Moreover, communities, whether in person or online, that focus on Black women’s healing offer crucial support. Sharing stories and experiences fosters connection and understanding that can alleviate feelings of isolation. In these spaces, the gentle pause approach—taking time to care, reflect, and grow—can help cultivate resilience and peace. Incorporating mindfulness, meditation, and intentional breathing exercises can also aid in grounding yourself when emotions feel overwhelming. Remember, choosing better means selecting environments, relationships, and practices that honor your true self. The journey is ongoing, but embracing your strength and honoring your feelings is a powerful step toward holistic healing.
