did you know that through your relationship with Jesus you can tap into significant power over your own life? it’s true. God, as the author of authority, has fashioned your character as His daughter to wield a strong force of unlimited authority in your own story.
because of the brokenness of people and painful past circumstances, authority can be misunderstood as a restricting force. however, when we access the true source of authority through Jesus, we live our lives with freedom. God empowers us by granting authority to make our own choices, and when we use that inherited authority to glorify His name, we encounter the fullness of His promises.
in revelation 2:26 the Lord promises “to the one who is victorious and does My will to the end, I will give authority over the nations.” in Christ, we will always possess God-given authority within us, but it’s the obedience we demonstrate when choosing God that reveals the royal authority we are called to have.
find a quiet moment to sit with the Lord and invite His presence into your space. allow His peace to cover any circling thoughts or emotions you may be experiencing. think about the areas in your life where you might feel restricted. take a pen and paper, and write down each one. pray with the Lord over each area you’ve written down, asking Him to empower you to apprehend His authority for the freedom you are meant to experience. God wants to highlight your acts of obedience and remind you that your relationship with Him gives you His authority—the kind of authority that can rule nations. selah.
... Read moreHey everyone! I've been reflecting a lot lately on what 'God-given authority' truly means in our everyday lives, and it's been a game-changer. You know that feeling when you just don't feel in control, or like circumstances are dictating your path? I used to feel that way a lot. But diving deeper into this concept, I realized we actually have an amazing spiritual inheritance.
The definition of authority, 'official permission; the right, power, or ability to act without hindrance,' really resonated with me. When we talk about God-given authority, it’s not about being bossy or controlling others. Instead, it’s about the divine right and power given to us through Jesus to manage our own lives, overcome spiritual opposition, and fulfill God's purposes for us without hindrance. It's an internal strength, a spiritual backbone that comes from knowing whose you are.
For me, understanding this brought so much clarity. It's the realization that I don't have to be a victim of my circumstances or my past. Through Christ, I have been granted the 'official permission' and 'power' to make choices that align with God's will, to speak life into situations, and to walk in freedom. Think about it: if God is the author of authority, and we are His children, doesn't it make sense that He would pass on a measure of that authority to us?
Practically, what does this look like? It means when anxiety tries to creep in, I can exercise my authority by declaring God's peace over my mind. When faced with a difficult decision, I can trust in the wisdom He's given me to choose wisely. It's about taking ownership of the spiritual ground in our lives, knowing that we’re not fighting alone, but with the backing of the ultimate authority.
Sometimes, we struggle to step into this authority because of past hurts or a misunderstanding of what it means. We might confuse it with worldly power, which often corrupts. But God's authority is always for good, for freedom, and for empowering us to live out our true potential. It's a journey of learning to trust His Word and act on it.
So, if you're like me and want to truly embrace this incredible gift, start by acknowledging its source: Jesus. Spend time in prayer, asking Him to reveal the areas where you need to step into your God-given authority. It's not just a concept for journaling prompts; it's a living, breathing truth that can transform your daily experience. Let's walk in the power and freedom He's already given us!
