have you ever experienced personal doubt in yourself? maybe there’s something that’s causing you to feel a bit uncertain or insecure right now—your body, a relationship, a work circumstance, a decision you’ve made, or a conversation that needs to happen.

whatever the highlight, God’s desire is for you to live fully assured as you navigate all areas of life. not controlling or arrogant, but simply secure, confident, and certain of all He’s created you to be and of all He’s placed inside of you.

but here’s what you need to know in order for that to be your testimony: in the Kingdom, the recipe for assurance is not found in what you do, or even in what you pray. it’s found in the revelation and understanding of identity—your’s and God’s.

you see, when we know the nature of God as a good Father—who loves us unconditionally, who’s faithful to continue the redeeming work He began in our lives, who’s using all things to ultimately benefit us; a Father who sees what we go through and not only promises to be there by our side, but to release goodness and mercy that’s able to overtake us each and every day—it begins to remove uncertainty about so many other things, including personal doubt in ourselves.

grab a journal and take some time to quietly reflect on the way you see both yourself and God. write a list of words that come to mind when you think of yourself as a daughter. then write words that come to mind when you think of God as Father. when you're done, ask Holy Spirit what He thinks of the words you've written. highlight the ones that He says are true. then ask Him to help you rewrite the others to align with His truth. as you go about your week, reflect on one or two of those words, allowing God to speak to you about true identity, and watch how uncertainty, doubt, and insecurity begin to give way to an inner strength that grounds and roots you even in the most vulnerable of situations.

... Read moreI remember a season in my life when self-doubt felt like a constant companion. Every decision, every interaction, even my quiet moments were tainted by a nagging insecurity. It was exhausting, and honestly, I yearned for that deep, unshakable feeling of being truly *assured*. I wanted to be secure in who I was and confident in my path, but it felt so out of reach. That's when I really leaned into this journaling practice, and it changed everything for me. The prompt, as wonderful as it is, became a starting point for a deeper journey. When it suggested listing words for myself and for God, I initially found it hard. What do I think of myself as a daughter? Sometimes, the negative voices were louder. But I pushed through, writing down even the hesitant words. Then, thinking of God as Father, words like 'loving,' 'powerful,' 'faithful' flowed easily. The real magic happened in the next step: asking the Holy Spirit what He thought. For me, this wasn't an audible voice, but a gentle sense of affirmation, a quiet peace that settled on certain words I'd written about myself. Words like 'chosen,' 'beloved,' 'capable,' 'strong' suddenly resonated with a truth I hadn't fully embraced before. And for the words that didn't align, I'd simply pray, 'Help me see myself as You see me, Father.' This wasn't about denying my feelings, but about inviting divine perspective to reshape them. I found that this wasn't a one-and-done exercise. To truly cultivate that *feeling assured*, I started carrying those 'true' words with me throughout my week. I'd pick one or two each morning and meditate on them. For instance, if 'beloved' was a word that resonated, I'd remind myself, 'I am beloved by God's infinite love,' especially when I felt unappreciated or overlooked. This simple act helped me to stay secure in His affection, even when circumstances tried to shake me. This practice has made me so much more confident in navigating daily life. When a difficult conversation comes up, instead of shrinking back in fear, I remember that I am 'wise' and 'gracious' in His eyes, and I approach it with a calm assurance. When faced with a challenging work situation, remembering I am 'capable' gives me the courage to tackle it head-on. It's not about being arrogant; it's about walking in the truth of who I am, rooted in His truth. I've learned that true assurance isn't about avoiding all doubt, but about having a deeper foundation that holds you steady when doubt inevitably arises. This isn't just a journaling exercise; it's a lifestyle of constantly aligning my perception with God's loving truth. If you're longing to feel truly assured in every area of your life, I encourage you to dive deep into this practice. It truly transforms.
