journaling prompt:✨oneness✨

✨prism prompt✨

have you ever felt the tension of being surrounded by people but still feeling unseen or disconnected?

relationships, even good ones, can sometimes fall short of what our hearts truly crave. each of us were created for connection—but not just with people. our deepest sense of belonging begins with oneness with God. this is more than being close to Him; it’s an actual uniting with Him at the core of who we are. “the one who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him” (1 corinthians 6:17).

this is the kind of union Jesus prayed for when He said to the Father, “I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one… may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me” (john 17:21). Jesus knew that true intimacy with God would not only satisfy our deepest need for connection—it would shape how we show up in every other relationship.

when we live from that place of oneness, we no longer depend on people to fill what only God can. our identity becomes anchored in His unchanging affection—not in the shifting responses of others. and from that secure place, we’re empowered to love well, extend grace, and pursue connection without fear or striving.

take a few minutes to be still before the Lord. ask Him:

am i living from union with You—or just around You?

what might shift in my relationships if i truly let intimacy with You define my sense of belonging?

are there areas where i’ve been chasing connection with others, instead of responding to Your invitation to consciously practice my connection to You?

then listen for His voice, and note anything He shares.

finally, let oneness with God become the place you return to daily—where connection isn’t earned, but fully embraced.

... Read moreReflecting on the concept of oneness with God has personally transformed how I view relationships and my sense of belonging. Often, I found myself surrounded by people yet feeling invisible or emotionally separate. This journaling prompt reminded me that our deepest need for connection goes beyond human interaction—it springs from a spiritual union with God. When I began focusing on nurturing this union, I noticed a shift in my inner life and external relationships. Anchoring my identity in God's unchanging love rather than others’ approval brought a peaceful confidence that allowed me to engage more authentically with friends and family. The idea that "the one who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him" (1 Corinthians 6:17) encourages us to find wholeness first in God, not in human connection alone. Practicing daily moments of stillness and inviting God to guide my awareness helped me become more sensitive to His voice amid the noise of everyday life. Journaling responses to questions about living in true union—rather than merely being near God or others—helped me clarify where I had been seeking approval or connection in unhealthy ways. From this foundation of oneness, relationships no longer feel like a source of tension or striving but become opportunities to extend grace, love freely, and pursue connection without fear. It’s empowering to realize that when your heart is rooted in God’s intimate presence, you’re equipped to contribute more warmly to community and to navigate challenges with greater resilience. Incorporating the concept of unity—not just with God but as Jesus prayed for all believers to be "one, just as You and I are one" (John 17:21)—can inspire a life marked by harmony and purpose. I encourage anyone feeling disconnected to journal on this topic, letting the process uncover what God might desire to reveal about your own journey to oneness and meaningful relationships.
