Add Your own Voice to IPad Voices✨

In my previous post, I shared that I use Apple’s spoken voice feature to read my notes and pdfs for studying on my #ipadpro. Turns out, we can also record our own voices if we don’t like the defaults that Apple have. I’m using the Nathan enhanced voice but I definitely want to test out my own voice after I recorded everything

How to create your own personal voice:

1. Go to settings > accessibility > personal voice

2. Click on create a voice

3. Click continue

4. Select your language

5. Name your voice

6. Click continue

7. Select your recording preference

8. Start recording

Repeat steps 1-8 for more custom voices

Apple’s iPad offers a unique feature that allows users to create their own personal voice for accessibility purposes. The personal voice feature is particularly beneficial for those who prefer a more familiar sound when using text-to-speech applications. Creating your own voice involves a simple process. First, you'll need to navigate to Settings, then Accessibility, and finally Personal Voice. This feature enables users to record their voice over a series of phrases, resulting in a digital voice that sounds like your own. After selecting language preferences and naming your voice, you’ll record about 150 phrases. The process might take around 15 minutes, but the end result is worth it, as your iPad will generate a voice that reflects your unique manner of speaking. It's vital to find a quiet space to ensure high-quality recordings. Consider using a room with minimal background noise to prevent distractions. Consistency is key while recording; speak naturally and at a steady volume to capture the best representation of your voice. Not only does this feature enhance personal interaction with your device, but it also aligns with Apple's ongoing commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. The addition of a personal voice can significantly improve the user experience for individuals with speech impairments, while also providing an engaging way for users who simply wish to personalize their iPad further. So, whether you’re looking to enhance your studying sessions by having notes read back to you or aiming for a more personalized interaction with Siri, this feature serves both needs remarkably well.
